Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Security in The Democratic Republic of Congo

$5

In Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), agricultural sector is the largest sector in terms of occupation and thus constitutes the most promising foundation to achieve food security as well as overall economic development. However, this huge agricultural potential remains largely unexploited with about only 10% of the 80 million hectares of arable land being cultivated. The aim of this paper is to (i) analyze key characteristics of the Congolese farmers and the challenges they face, and (ii) highlight determinants of food insecurity and the expected role of CSA in DRC
